From the Bench: July

Hello, July! We’re often told that things slow down here during the summer, but we’ll have to politely disagree. Just check out our events calendar if you need proof.

This month, among other non-profits, we’re featuring the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). If one person suffers, we all do. Please take a moment to read this, and if you know anyone that might need some support, share it with them too.

Before you go, here’s a few announcements:

Southeast Local Historic District Now Largest in St. Petersburg

After a big push by the Historic Kenwood Neighborhood Association, City Council recently approved their request to designate 97 homes as the Southeast Local Historic District, officially making this the largest neighborhood of locally designated homes in St. Petersburg. For more information about Historic Kenwood, visit www.historickenwood.org. For more info about local designation, visit www.stpete.org/history_and_preservation/preservation.php.

Welcome Oak & Stone

Oak & Stone just celebrated their grand opening on this side of the Skyway at 199 Central Ave. This is their second location. The first, opened in Sarasota. Over 55 beers on tap that you can pour by the ounce! Not to mention artisan pizza. Stop by and tell them Green Bench Monthly sent you. For more info, visit www.oakandstone.com.
