From the Bench: May 2017

We’re excited to introduce two new features this month! Drumroll, please…

First, from the Archives of the St. Petersburg Museum of History. Each month we’ll share a piece that is not currently on public display. When Executive Director, Rui Farias, approached us with this idea, we were obviously on board from the start. This City’s history fascinates us, and we love publishing stories about it. But it really hit us when we went to the museum and saw all the incredible stuff just hanging out behind closed doors. We can’t wait to show you! The cover of this month’s issue is just a small sample of what’s to come.

Next up, Downtown Developments by none other than Brian Zucker, owner of St. Pete Rising. Those of you that follow St. Pete Rising online know that it’s the go-to for new development information. While their online format is much more in depth, the version you read here will focus on delivering quick snapshots of what’s going on in and around the downtown area. Think of it as your Cliff ’s Notes for DTSP development.

It is also our pleasure to feature the ArtsXchange this issue. This project is the brainchild of the Warehouse Arts District Association and this particular article is written by their Executive Director, Mary Jane Park.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a good laugh, take a turn down Central Ave. and stop by Unscripted Theatre. We got a chance to catch a show recently and were really impressed with the performers…and it doesn’t hurt that they have the cheapest craft beer prices we’ve seen in town! See pg. 2 for a $5 OFF coupon good for Friday and Saturday shows.

Sprinkled in you’ll find some delightful local businesses. Keep in mind most of the ads and stories you see in GBM are for local businesses and nonprofits. In other words, when you support them, you are supporting your neighbors. So please, stop by, say Hello and tell them Green Bench Monthly sent you!

Enjoy!
