Where you are encouraged to come just as you are.

BridgePoint is a nondenominational Christian church comprised of three campuses, along with live streaming of their services, which can be accessed from anywhere. The downtown St. Petersburg campus is located on Mirror Lake in the beautiful, 100-year-old former Lyceum building.

The downtown campus’ pastor, Trevor Lovingood, hails from Nashville, Tennessee, along with his wife, Erica, their daughter, Londyn, and their soon-to-be-born, newest addition. Trevor grew up in church watching his father, whom he also calls his best friend, and in whose footsteps he follows as a pastor. He credits his father for encouraging him to go out and find his own faith and life path.

Trevor is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in communications and political science. Prior to coming to Bridgepoint, he had the opportunity to serve congregations in Raleigh, North Carolina as well as Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee. Being new to St. Pete, Trevor loves how alive the city feels and is excited to support the area and watch the city grow.

Come as You Are

Trevor brings to BridgePoint a desire to bring the community together in a safe and fun environment. “You don’t have to change who you are to come be a part of our family,” he said. “We invite everyone, wherever you are in your life.”

He continued: “At BridgePoint, we are not looking for perfection; we look to share and provide an atmosphere that is real and reflects the diversity of our city. A common misconception in regards to church is that people feel we will want to take something from them. When in reality, we are here because we want everything for you. Our investment is in people.”

Part of BridgePoint’s philosophy is that as a community we are so much better together, and in being together and supporting one another we can enjoy life to the fullest. Trevor and BridgePoint believe that Jesus is that key to a life fulfilled. However, “You don’t have to believe what I believe or agree with me in order to come be a part of our congregation,” Trevor said. “There is a voice for everyone here at BridgePoint.”

Something for Everyone

Trevor also believes that church is not meant to be endured; it’s meant to be enjoyed and to be fun! That’s why BridgePoint offers programs for all ages. For example, KidsPoint, which provides care during services for babies and activities for kids up to the fifth grade, and SPIN, which is a group for middle and high schoolers. They also have exciting and collaborative outreach groups for college students and young adults.

BridgePoint wants to meet the needs of the area and impart the truth that you are not alone, you have support and friendship right here in your neighborhood. Part of their support for the community includes several initiatives involving care for those who need assistance in the area, such as their Building Beds program. Through this program, volunteers from the church have built over a thousand beds for local children, 18 and under, who otherwise would not have one. They also partner with Family Promise of Pinellas County, which helps families without homes to get back on their feet; and have a Global Impact team, which partners with international organizations to help meet the needs of at-risk families.

BridgePoint Downtown holds services every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. in at their campus, located at 737 3rd Ave. N. It’s a casual scene with a live band, which includes some of their own music. “Every Sunday is unmissable and unique,” Trevor said.

They have a couple of special events coming up that you may want to put on your calendar. On November 16 at 8 p.m. at their downtown campus, BridgePoint is hosting MyLocal727, a party for college-age students and young adults. And you won’t want to miss Christmas Eve with BridgePoint on December 24. Services will be held at the Mahaffey Theater at noon, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm, to accommodate the most hectic of schedules, and are free for the entire family.

As Trevor said, “We are all on this journey together. So come just as you are and let’s see what’s next together!” You can learn more about BridgePoint Church at www.bridgepointfl.com and you can follow them on social media: @bridgepointdtsp @bridgepointfl and @trevorlovingood.
