Homes are taking longer to sell, so buyers might be able to request assistance with closing costs. Roche advises that you not wait for interest rates to come down if you are in the market for a new home. “Home prices haven’t dropped, and if you buy now you can start building up home equity. You can always refinance if rates do go down. Also, there are home loans available where you can pay a lower rate for one to two years and then refinance when the rate goes up.”
