Like many other St. Petersburg residents, Samantha and Shaun Roberts decided to make the move here to take advantage of our beautiful weather. Coming from Liverpool, England, in 2016, they were looking for a business opportunity to use their years of experience in sales and marketing, and they were excited to purchase Budget Blinds of North St. Petersburg.

“Woven wood shades are very popular these days,” he says. “And the iconic Florida plantation shutters are a mainstay, where you can open them for a lovely view. Many clients like to have a shutter with a honeycomb shade behind it. Motorization can be added to the majority of our product offerings, making opening and closing very easy by remote or phone app. And now we offer a rechargeable motor you just plug into an outlet about every 12 to 18 months.”
In addition, motorized shades can be connected to home Wi-Fi to set schedules throughout the day. Roberts finds this works great for their young son, since he knows he has to stay in bed until the shades rise at 7 a.m. “It is also nice for security reasons to have shades opening and closing while you are not at home.”
Other Window Treatments
Budget Blinds offers a full range of window treatments that include custom drapes and soft treatments. These can also be ordered with motorized drapery rods and blinds programmed to open and close right from your cell phone. Many customers choose to install blinds on the inside of a window with drapes arranged over them. “We offer some neat options for kids’ rooms with fun designs and bright colors in blinds and draperies,” Shaun reports, “and every shade has a cordless option for your children’s (and your pets’) safety.”
Online Shopping Makes It Easy
Many of Budget Blinds’ clients live out of town where they are waiting for their new home to be built or simply prefer to shop online. Samantha and Shaun can go into a home under construction and measure while the owners can view swatch samples online or have them mailed so they can touch and feel the material.
Budget Blinds now has a new office on International Court N. After a home consultation, clients can come in and view additional samples or review what they chose. “This makes it very convenient for landlords and owners of new construction projects, for example, where we can’t always meet in the home,” Shaun says.
