The store began as a way for the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce to showcase community artists and makers. Since then, the concept has taken off and exceeded expectations. Last year they saw more than 16,000 visitors! And they plan to see even more this year. Tourists and locals love it! In fact, Coordinator Shelli Hemans, explains that her biggest concern is keeping up with demand for new artists. “Some stop by just to see what’s new which is why we update our inventory at least every quarter,” says Hemans.
In addition to local art, there are plenty of other reasons to visit the Center. Planning a trip to the Dali or taking a class at Florida Craft Art? The store offers discounts on tickets to local museums and events. Need ideas for how to entertain visiting family? Check out their racks of brochures featuring all of the touristy delights our little-big city has to offer. While you’re there, snag a plaque featuring your neighborhood logo. And now you can find past and current issues of Green Bench Monthly!
The Store is staffed by the Chamber and an incredible set of passionate volunteers. Stop by, say hello, and tell them Green Bench Monthly sent you!
